Deep House Club Nights in Bangkok
Every few weeks someone posts the same question on r/Bangkok: "Is there an actual deep house club in this city?" And the replies are always a mess - half of them naming places that shut two years ago, the other half pointing at an EDM barn.
So here's the straight version, from the crew that actually programs a lot of these nights. Bangkok doesn't have one room playing deep house seven nights a week, and anyone who says it does is angling to sell you a table. What it has is a circuit of good rooms that mix genres, a couple of purist spots that keep it deep, and takeover nights - ours among them - that turn a venue into exactly the party you came for.
We've played, danced through and thrown parties in most of these rooms. So this is built around nights and people, not a fantasy of one perfect club - and ranked by where the deep, melodic and afro house actually lands.
Thursday — the Sure Thing
Afrokana at APT 101
If you only get one night in Bangkok, make it a Thursday. Afrokana runs every week at APT 101 - afro house with a live djembe player drumming over the top of the DJ. On paper it reads like a tourist gimmick; in the room it's the thing that keeps you there till close. 400 baht, first drink included, up in the Sukhumvit 17 penthouse. It's the one weekly you can set your watch to - and, as it happens, our home turf. More on that below.
The Rooms — Ranked by When They Go Deep
Here's the part the tourist guides won't tell you straight: almost no room in Bangkok plays deep house all night - they mix. The deep, melodic and afro house peaks come on the right nights, and the most reliable signal is who's programming the room. When Deep House Thailand takes it over, or when Cameron Glasgow, Dennis Gold, BYAS or Wiwa are on the bill, you're getting the real thing wherever you are in the city. That's the lens. Here are the rooms, ranked by how reliably they deliver it.
Our home turf, and the room that gives you more deep, melodic and afro house across a month than anywhere else in the city - Afrokana every Thursday, plus the Deep House Thailand takeovers on top. It doesn't run deep notes every single night, but the mix is always good, and it goes all the way when we take the room or when Cameron Glasgow, Dennis Gold, BYAS or Wiwa are on. A penthouse floor on Sukhumvit 17, and the easiest way into this whole scene.
Baccarat doesn't run deep notes every single night - what it always has is a genuinely good mix of deep, melodic and afro house, and a crowd that actually moves. It tips all the way over when Deep House Thailand takes the room or when Cameron Glasgow, Dennis Gold, BYAS or Wiwa are behind the decks. Red neon, old New York styling at the Davis on Soi 24, and it fills fast on weekends - get there before midnight.
The purist's pick, and the one the tourist lists always miss. Democ has been running deep house, soulful house and Afro-Brazilian house out of a small room by Democracy Monument since 1999 - no spectacle, no bottle theatre, just the sound done properly by people who were here first.
Fifty-eight people, ninth floor of the Trinity Complex, no Instagram and no press - you find it by word of mouth. A house and underground listening room built for warmth over volume. Turn up after 1 AM. If you want to know where the real heads go, it's here.
The big underground room, and the best sound system in the city, full stop. Straight talk: Mustache leans house and melodic techno, and plenty of nights it's more techno than deep house - so check the flyer and go on a house-billed night. When it lands, nothing else in Bangkok touches the VOID rig.
Newer Ekkamai room with serious sound and projection work, running afro house and melodic through to techno. It's a regular home for Dennis Gold, whose afro house is some of the best in the city right now - worth timing your visit to one of his nights.
Two more earn a look on the right night. Beam in Thonglor is a serious tech-house and underground room, with Beamcube downstairs the more house-leaning, listening-first space. And Sing Sing Theater on Sukhumvit 45 is worth going once for the room alone - an old-Shanghai fever dream of lanterns and balconies - and worth going back when the booking swings house.
Takeover Nights — When the Whole Room Is Ours
The best deep house nights here often aren't on a weekly schedule - they're takeovers, where a crew books a venue and runs the whole night. That's our thing, and it's why our name keeps coming up across these rooms. Our last one at APT 101 packed the place out; the next Deep House Thailand night is there again on July 11 with Cameron Glasgow, BYAS and the crew, and in summer it moves outdoors to the pool. Every confirmed date lives on the events page - that's the one to bookmark.
How Not to Waste a Night
Three things worth knowing if you're new here. One: follow the night and the crew, not the venue - the same room can be deep house on Thursday and something you'd hate on Saturday. Two: check the club's Instagram the day you're going, not a flyer you saw last month. Three: rooms here open, close and rebrand fast, so if a guide hasn't been touched in a year, don't trust a word of it. We re-check this one on rotation, and the this-month calendar gets updated every Monday.
Club Nights FAQ
Is there a real deep house club in Bangkok?
Not one that runs deep house every night - the good rooms all mix. What you've got is a couple of purist spots (Cafe Democ, Elsewhere), rooms with a strong deep, melodic and afro house mix (Baccarat, Veyla, APT 101), the big underground system at Mustache on its house nights, and takeover nights. The tell is who's programming: when Deep House Thailand, Cameron Glasgow, Dennis Gold, BYAS or Wiwa are on, it's the real thing.
Which night is best?
Thursday, for certainty - Afrokana never misses. Friday and Saturday depend on who's booked; check Baccarat, Cafe Democ, Elsewhere, Mustache and Veyla. And a takeover night beats all of it, so keep an eye on the calendar.
What does entry cost?
The weeklies run about 300-500 baht, usually with a drink. Takeovers and bigger bookings sit around 500-1,000. Full breakdown in the entry fees guide.
What should I wear, and how late does it go?
Smart casual gets you into all of these - dress code. Most rooms wind down around 2 AM; the late ones like Elsewhere go till morning - closing times.
