Two years ago, afro house in Bangkok was a rumor. Now it sells out penthouses. Our April takeover at APT 101 - an afro house night - packed the room until they stopped letting people up.
We were in that room. Watching Bangkok - Thai heads, expats, people who walked in knowing nothing about the genre - lock into that rolling percussion together was the moment we knew this sound had found its city. It works at 4 PM by a pool and at 1 AM in a dark room. Here's where to actually find it.

Afrokana — Thursdays at APT 101
Every Thursday, no exceptions. Afro house all night with live djembe drummers playing over the DJ - real hands on real drums, riding the mix. 400 baht in, first drink included. It's the one afro house appointment in Bangkok you can build a week around.
