Where to Find House Music in Thailand

Short answer Bangkok is the center - house-leaning clubs, Afrokana every Thursday, monthly pool parties, and the Deep House Thailand events (next: the rooftop pool party at Centara Grand, July 18). On the islands: Koh Phangan is quietly drifting from trance to deep and tech house, Phuket does big-name beach clubs that lean commercial, Samui has pockets. Come November-March for the islands; Bangkok never stops.

People plan whole Thailand trips around temples, beaches and street food, then land here and ask the question we get every week: okay, but where's the house music?

Fair question. The answer online is a mess of five-year-old forum threads and venue ads. So here's the map from the crew that actually lives on it - we throw the parties in Bangkok, we've danced across the rest, and we'll tell you straight where the music is real and where it's a beach club with a marketing budget.

Bangkok — Start Here. Honestly.

Whatever the beach brochures say, the house music capital of Thailand is Bangkok. It's the only city with all four layers:

Club rooms that lean house - Mustache in Silom (our pick for a first night), BEAM in Thonglor, Sing Sing Theater, Elsewhere for after-midnight. The full room-by-room truth: deep house club nights.

A weekly night you can plan around - Afrokana, afro house every Thursday at APT 101, 400 baht with a drink.

Pool parties that play real house - the Westin's melodic/afro editions, and our own Deep House Thailand × Bangkok Rooftops series at Centara Grand (Jul 18, Aug 29, Sep 19 - tickets). The full pool ranking.

Takeover culture - crews programming whole nights. Ours sold out APT 101 in April. Here's what that one was like.

What's on right now, always: the this-month calendar, updated every Monday.

Koh Phangan — the Interesting One

A jungle clearing party on a Thai island at night — festoon bulbs in the palms, barefoot dancing on sand
The island sound is shifting deeper — quietly, year by year

Everyone knows Phangan for the Full Moon Party. Here's what fewer people clock: the island's venues have been drifting away from trance toward deep and tech house over the last few years. Jungle parties and beach bars that used to hammer psytrance now run deep grooves until sunrise.

Our honest advice: skip the Full Moon buckets-and-EDM main drag unless it's your first time and you need the story. Ask around Srithanu and the jungle-party circuit instead, and go with the lunar calendar, not against it. The island rewards people who dig one layer deeper.

Phuket — Big Names, Commercial Heart

Phuket is where the money is, and the bookings show it: Cafe del Mar pulls genuinely big electronic names for sunset-to-night parties (we've seen Keinemusik-tier artists route through). The catch: the default programming across the island's beach clubs is commercial EDM and open-format for the resort crowd.

Go if a booking you love is on. Don't build a music trip around a random Phuket weekend. The Thailand pool party guide has the club-by-club notes.

Samui & Chiang Mai — the Pockets

Samui: SEEN Beach Club is the photogenic pool-and-DJs anchor, and Bophut has chill-house corners. Small scene, pretty setting, manage expectations. Chiang Mai: there IS an underground - small rooms, real heads - but the city sleeps early by law, so it's a listening-bar-and-early-set culture, not a 3 AM one. We respect it; just know what you're getting.

The One-Week Music Trip, Planned by Us

If you gave us seven days and said "make it about the music": land in Bangkok Thursday (Afrokana), club room Friday, our pool party or the Westin edition Saturday, recover Sunday like a local (day party guide if you can't sit still), fly to Phangan Monday, spend the week's back half on the island's deeper circuit timed to the moon. That trip doesn't miss.
